Week 5 PLE

What is the content you’ll be using in your lesson?
In my 2nd grade classroom, I will be addressing the Language Arts Standard 1: Objective 2, which requires students to learn how to use several different mediums, including video, to present information and to discuss the different reasons why we view media.
I will also address the Content Core, Standard 1: Objective 1, which addresses lessons on health and safety.

What is the pedagogy you’ll be using and why is it a good fit with the content?
Students will work to create their videos instructing about good health and safety habits, which we will have discussed in a unit of study. As they gather and organize information they will learn about the use of technology, as well as remind themselves what habits they should be forming to keep themselves healthy and safe. One of the best ways to learn about something is to come up with a way to teach it.

What is the technology you’ll be using and why is it a good fit with the content and pedagogy?
We will be using Photostory, a program that enables users to create videos. This fits with the pedagogy because it will help students explore the options for using technology to create art (in this case, videos) that they could use later. It also provides them with a clear, fun way to organize and showcase their thoughts about the topic.
